Josh Ritz, PMHNP-BC
Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner
I have spent the majority of my professional career working at McLean Hospital as both mental health counselor and psychiatric nurse in both residential and inpatient settings. I have experience with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. I have worked with both ECT and TMS clients in the hospitals.
Neurotherapeutics Department. I also worked as a research assistant in a lab studying the genetic causes of mental illness and targeted treatments for specific mutations. When it came time for me to pursue an advanced degree, I was able to complete my clinical training at McLean. In addition, I have worked as a home health aide for people with psychiatric conditions and as a care manager for cases requiring mental health support while simultaneously addressing any medical needs. I feel fortunate I can bring my diverse experiences in mental healthcare to the table as an advanced practice clinician and believe strongly that recovery is possible through a combination of psychotherapy and medication management.
My Approaches and Values
It is my hope that I can bring all of my diverse experiences within the field of psychiatry to bear when working on any given case. I plan to work collaboratively with any client to determine the best course of treatment, likely involving a combination of psychotherapy, psychopharmacology, and lifestyle changes. While any treatment may be effective on its own, recovery works best when approached from multiple angles and with multiple methodologies applied in concert. Together, we can effect change and work towards a better and brighter state of being.
