Advanced Practice Registered Nurse

A Career Rooted in Purpose

After dedicating over five years as a Family Nurse Practitioner in a community health center, I witnessed firsthand the critical gap between the mental health needs of the community and the limited access to vital mental health services. This realization inspired me to embark on a second career as a psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner, driven by a commitment to address this need and make a meaningful difference.

Throughout my decade-long nursing journey, I have cared for a wide range of individuals across diverse settings. From supporting elderly residents with dementia and Alzheimer’s disease in nursing homes to providing acute care in the medical/surgical unit of a critical access hospital and managing high-pressure situations in a Level II trauma center emergency department, each experience has enriched my practice with invaluable skills and insights.

My career has also been defined by providing holistic care to diverse populations of all ages, including LGBTQ individuals, BIPOC communities, refugees, immigrants, and low-income households. These opportunities have deepened my understanding of cultural competence and reinforced my commitment to delivering evidence-based, individualized care.

I prioritize empowering patients with autonomy and fostering accountability through open, collaborative discussions to ensure treatment decisions align with their goals and values. My passion for this level of care extends seamlessly into the realm of mental health.

Approach to Care

Every mental health journey begins with a personalized and collaborative partnership. I am committed to creating a safe, empowering space where clients can actively define their unique paths to wellness. My approach acknowledges that mental health is deeply personal, shaped by individual goals, values, and the pursuit of a fulfilling life.

I work alongside clients to craft tailored treatment plans that may encompass symptom management, enhancing quality of life, and embracing meaningful roles within their communities. With a focus on empowerment and self-determination, my person-centered approach fosters resilience and confidence as clients take charge of their mental well-being.

I integrate evidence-based psychopharmacology and psychotherapy to promote overall well-being. Recognizing the essential role of daily habits and lifestyle factors—such as sleep, exercise, and nutrition

I collaborate with clients to develop sustainable strategies for improvement. While some conditions may require long-term medication, I strive to help individuals build coping mechanisms that enable them to navigate challenges and thrive.

My ultimate goal is to understand my clients holistically and support them every step of the way on their mental health journey.
